Looking after our dogs in the time of COVID-19 (New Zealand)
Many of us are now working from home (or will be soon), and have some restrictions on getting out and about. Remember you and your dogs still need the same exercise routines you’ve been having until now. There’s no reason you can’t get outside with your dogs and walk.
And that applies even to those who have to be in self isolation, and don’t have the disease. There’s some advice from the Ministry of Health about self isolation, that includes:
“You can go outside, but you need to limit your contact with others. It’s ok to go for a walk, run or ride your bike, as long as you avoid people who aren’t self-isolating.”
Reference: Ministry of Health advice on self isolation.
More advice from the NZ Veterinary Association if you are in a situation of self isolation:
COVID 19 self isolation and animals.
There’s also some great advice from the NZ SPCA on pet care during this time: SPCA advice on COVID-19.
For now we won’t be running any stalls since dog shows and markets are postponed indefinitely. Keep an eye on our Events page for when we’ll be starting up stalls again.
In the meantime we can deliver our Hurtta Dog gear all over New Zealand by courier. We’ll do our best to make sure you get the right fit for your dog. Just let us know if you have any issues, and we’ll make arrangements to get the right product to you.
Please visit our Shop pages to check out all the great gear and make some purchases.
